Everbound — Writing Characters that Respond
Notes from the story team on how Everbound's cast is being built to feel present, curious, and lasting.
Everbound is built around the feeling that characters remember the reader's journey. That does not simply mean branching dialogue; it means relationships should develop with enough continuity that choices feel acknowledged later.
We approach each character as a person with their own priorities, boundaries, history, and changing interpretation of the reader. Responsive fiction becomes more convincing when a character can disagree, reconsider, become curious, or carry an earlier moment forward naturally.
The work is as much about restraint as variation. Meaningful responses matter more than endless branches, so we are concentrating on choices that strengthen character arcs and make the world feel attentive to the reader.
